The vision of powerful and enlightened India had been conceived by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati (1824-83). He knew that the awakening of the ignorant, illiterate masses of this country could be possible only through education and literacy.The vision and philosophy of Maharishi Dayanand was given a practical shape by Mahatma Hans Raj, who led the education renaissance in India.
One aspect of his approach was his choice of English-oriented science-based education with a blend of Vedic values. The first D.A.V. institution was established at Lahore 1886.
Today, the movement is led by DAV Vetrans like hon'ble Sh.G.P.Chopra an eminent educationists and an awardee of Padamshri and Padam Bhushan who is shaping the destiny of D.A.V. institutions (more then 700 institutions) as president DAV CMC & Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi.

SGJDAV has a salubrious campus of over 20 acres of land in indeed serene and sylvan surroundings.
